To Vesper Skies
These were blind subterranean creatures found in the large earthen mound on the first day of exploration. They seem to have six legs like everything else on this planet, and large beaks to eat eggs and other prey. Their clicking seems to be a form of echolocation that allows them to traverse the dark caves of the planet. Their skin is leathery and a dark fleshy pink, with shovel like claws.
(An excerpt from Gudrun Solberg's notes)
(Typed into the notes section of her personal tablet as a reminder for the report to NECI Gudrun expects to be making soon) Entered a giant mound covered in a clearly manmade, high tech film of some sort. Will need to get my hands on some next time we're in the area. Mound inhabited by egg laying xenofauna with six legs and beaks. They click and look canid so I'll call them clickdogs. They don't like light or shovels. I suppose this makes sense for a subterranean species. King took one of their eggs, the fool seems to expect it to hatch into a pet or underling or something. Our party fought six clickdogs. Our torches scared three off, three fought. Something came over me in that bout – I saw King was under threat from two clickdogs and charged one with my shovel, killing it. Perhaps I should leave that prayer to Thor out of my report to NECI – they'll think I've gone mad. I probably HAVE gone mad, or maybe it's stress. Nevertheless, I didn't feel the fear I feel during gun combat when I fought with the shovel. Should consider learning melee combat to make myself more useful in battle. I usually hide while the others fight. They must think I'm a coward – it's time to correct that.
